Lyrics
South Alabama, right beside Mississippi
Hundred thousand dollars is missing from the city
Cause a blonde haired, blue eyed,
Southern belle stole it in the middle of the night
Well, never should have took her where she told me she was going,
Now I'm aiding and abetting Lord, have mercy on me
Have mercy on me
Cause now I'm wanted, dead or alive
And they say I might get twenty to life
So blackjack on my table, hit my hand
So I'll be able to clean this money so we can get hitched, throw that gun in a ditch
And rain, rain keep on coming
Cause me and this girl gotta keep on running
To the other side of the Rio Grande
We'll clear our names and be free again
Cause we went and fell in love on our first date
When I stole her heart
And she robbed the bank
Well, hound's been coming and running for thirty miles
Calling Baton Rouge with my baby by my side
Long way from home, but not too far from Mexico
Well, guess I gotta get to where I got a new identity
Pocket full of bills and all the amenities
And finally me and her 'll be free
So blackjack on my table,
Hit my hand, so I'll be able
To clean this money so we can get hitched,
Throw that gun in a ditch
And rain, rain well keep on coming
Cause me and this girl gotta keep on running
To the other side of the Rio Grande
We'll clear our names and be free again
Cause we went and fell in love on our first date
When I stole her heart
And she robbed the bank
Now we're wanted, dead or alive
But tonight we just might make the Texas line
So blackjack on my table, hit my hand
So I'll be able to clean this money
So we can get hitched, throw that gun in a ditch
And rain, rain well keep on coming
Cause me and this girl gotta keep on running
To the other side of the Rio Grande
We'll clear our names and be free again
Cause we went and fell in love on our first date
When I stole her heart
And she robbed the bank
She robbed the bank
