Lyrics
Hello Benefit, hello, how are you?
It is me, it is us, I mean it is you
11 years from calling to check up on you
And give you heads up on this life you're about to choose
I know it's weird talking to your future self, I do
But for starters, well done, now you got the juice
You're in the same caliber as Erykah Badu
Eminem, NWA, or Nas, or Juice Wrld
Maybe not the same impact they had but dude
Your music has been here for a use
Now you pop on the news
We done turned conflicts into truce
Without a cape, now they see you as Bruce Wayne
And hey, I'm here to say
That it's gonna be alright despite the times
It really wasn't that okay
But hey, you stay
Grinding right up on that wave
You're headed here
By the way I am writing this from a bus
I live here now, this is us
Don't get me wrong, you're not homeless, chill dude, it's a Tour Bus
People outside are waiting for us
And honestly I don't get what the fuss is about
'Cause some of 'em right now are giving you doubt in that year and month
Couple days ago some of 'em asked for my autograph
I did it, reminisced and then laughed
That's when I kinda thought back
I got reminded about the song about dad
Is it Fred? The one that clones the Mockingbird song
By Eminem so
I thought of you lying in your bed
In that year writing BENEFIT FRED
And thought that I should say
Hey, I'm here to say
That it's gonna be alright despite the times
It really wasn't that okay
But hey, you stay
Grinding right up on that wave
You're headed here
Umm, it was nice to just, you know, get in touch
But right now I gotta grab some lunch
With Nasty C and then brunch
Tomorrow at momma's mansion
Oh, you bought it for her, sorry I didn't mention that
But this Time Machine that Calvin created
Only gives me 3 minutes tops to send a message
And I can't contact you again until another decade's passed
By that time, you're already me with your wife and kids at last
