Jesus, like a beautiful cuneiform
Pressed into our stone-cold souls by a crown of thorns
When we as clay interlay with His Ways
His freedom forms
His canvas is the human heart re-made
By saving palms
His touch so beautiful
Heaven's descending Son
The Soul seer now to close to us
The Word is born
In true blue collar form
Shared by the humbled ones
For two plus millennia
His loving news is sung
Our Savior's so close
To the low is where He goes
Our Savior's so close
To the low is where He goes
The woman at the well
Like the woman at the laundrymat
The bangers with no fathers home
Daughters in the wild wild
Fending for themselves
With no honor where they come from
The oppressed immigrant with less
These be all friends of His
We are His people
No polish on our profiles
Sick, needy, and vile
Crippled, hopeless, and foul
Souls possessed and bound
Depraved, stuck in their doubt
The proud get laid down
The insane becoming sound
The addicts under bridges
Sinners finally crowned
Or trapped on phone images
Deliverance being found
We are prodigals with obstacles
Dirt falling from gowns
When the Father say your name
And the Spirit pulls you in
And the Savior intervenes
That's a beautiful refrain
Sounds beautiful like
Love singing to you in rain
Before your judgement day
And you realize by Jesus' blood
You're finally free!
(Come)
Come broken and tired
(Now)
Wearied by sin
(Free)
Come broken and tired
(Us)
Jesus calls us, come
(Come)
Come broken and tired
(Now)
Wearied by time
(Free)
Come broken and tired
(Us)
Jesus calls us, come
(Come)
Come broken and tired
(Now)
Wearied by sin
(Free)
Come broken and tired
(Us)
Jesus calls us, come
(Come)
Come broken and tired
(Now)
Wearied by time
(Free)
Come broken and tired
(Us)
Jesus calls us, come
So I remember the most low but precious among us
One day in my church sanctuary
Where I saw a wearied woman
A prostitute
Give God praise
Like I had never heard before
The sound of aching joy
As the burdens rolled off of her heavy heavy soul
And those stereotypes
Those those titles of her
Cascaded off is this woman
She became a butterfly
A saint
Filled the holiness and beauty of God
A beautiful new creation
Restored into the image of her Savior
Bathed in a grace that was cleaner than snow
And I thought to myself
As I wept with groans I can't translate for you
Ain't that just like all of us
See
Christ Jesus says
Come to me all you who are wearied and really weighed down
And I will give you rest
Rest for your souls
He tells us his burden is light
And I thought to myself again
I said
There is really only one person
That can ever handle all the weight that we carry
All that weight she carried
All that weight I carry inside
The weight of sin and soul
The weight of this fractured life
And city and world
The weight of eternity
The weight of the Way - even that
Before me following Christ
See, that person carrying all that weight is not me
It's an unfair load, right?
But it's a promise He wants to keep for us
You see Christ make our burden light
If we come to him in our weariness
With our burdens and he'll take them all away
See have you ever seen the prostitute into the saint?
Now ain't that just like all of us weird ones
Turned to joyful ones
Thank you, Jesus
Thank You, Lord
You are our beauty
And you give us back being beautiful
Thank You
