Well I woke up this morning
With nothing but blues on my mind
Well I woke up this morning
With nothing but blues on my mind
Oh please help me Lord
Sometimes I can't help but cry
All these creditors and interest
When man says pay up or go
In this worthless society
No one gives a damn no more
Guess I'm back on the road
But don't know which way to turn
Well I went down to the river
To rest my weary head
I prayed to the Lord
And this is what he said
He says you fight and you fight
Until you're dead and gone
But you try and you try
And you must never give up hope
So come on down to the river
And rest your weary head
Oh come on sweet child
Remember what the good book said
So come down to the river
The river of life
So come down to the river
The river of life
Oh come on sweet child
Remember what the good book said
We were born to be free
Whatever happened to you and me?
But we'll fight it together
And make no mistake
'Til the truth is ours
We'll do whatever it takes
Come to the river
The river of life
Won't you come to the river
The river of life
Oh come on sweet child
Remember what the good book said
Come to the river
Come to the river
Come on sweet child
Remember what the good book said
