I'm Trying My Freakin Best
So I heard you made New Music Friday
Well congratz from a truck stop somewhere out on the highway
I'm out here this summer chasing down dreams
Watching the rearview and eating baked beans
You could say that I'm doing things my way
Though it seems like for years now my life has gone sideways
But I'll keep this tour van between both the lines
Break my guitar strings and scream in the mic
And offset the carbon that I oxidize
'Cuz I'm trying my freakin best
My phone says I'm in mid life crisis
That Reddit thread's dead, left to my own devices
So I'm out making music and making new friends
In all likelihood never see them again
'Cuz I'm lonely and lost and fucked up in the head
But I'm trying
So I'll stand on a stage in Mobile, Alabama
My heart beating out of my chest
'Cuz baby I'm trying
Yes I'm trying
My freakin best
I'm trying to be a little less tragic
For the first time in my life I'm trying to find magic
I'm trying to be reckless
I'm trying to be brave
I'm trying to be someone who tries to behave
I'm trying to unlock all the bolts on my cage
I'm trying
So I'll stand on a stage in Mobile, Alabama
My heart beating out of my chest
'Cuz baby I'm trying
Yes I'm trying
My freakin best
