Ooh Poo Pah Doo

The singer presents “ooh poo pah doo” as a lively sound meant to catch someone’s attention. The mood is playful and persistent: the singer keeps trying to make an impression, repeating the phrase and promising not to stop until the listener notices.

The lyrics use sound images rather than a detailed story. “Ring a few bells in your ear” suggests making a memorable impression, as if a sound keeps echoing in someone’s mind. “Make some strange noises” emphasizes the song’s playful, unusual energy. The repeated phrase “disturbance in your mind” can mean interrupting someone’s thoughts or making them think about the singer; it need not imply serious harm.

The words leave the exact purpose open. The singer may be flirting, joking, or simply celebrating a catchy rhythm and the power of sound. Because the lyrics repeat a few simple ideas, the effect is less like a message with a clear conclusion and more like an energetic attempt to get—and keep—the listener’s attention.
