Lyrics
A messy guy is me
Kinda like Josh the Priest in Zechariah 3
My heart is filled with garbage
Yo, I wear unrighteousness like filthy garments
And as I stand before the Lord
Satan brings up my guilt and charges
Like, "Look at this guilty kid's filthiness
How are you, a holy God, filling this?"
"Hush, Satan", as the Lord silenced Him
"I'm aware of his pride and sin
But I, the righteous one
Satisfied the justice of my Law when I died for Tim"
Then Christ took off my unrighteousness
'Cause He wore it on the cross like it's His
Then He handed me the whitest clothes
And said, "Here, put on my righteous robes"
We have to be told this
That on the cross, Christ took the wrath for His chosen
Yo, this passage is so rich
Please turn with me to the fifth chapter of Romans
First and second verse
Please rest assured from these here blessed words
Now, by faith, you're justified
Which means Jesus Christ's perfection's yours
Since you're united to Jesus
Before the Father, you're now as righteous as He is
Because of Christ, our lover
God delights in us, 'cause with His righteous life, we're covered
Our sin's cancelled, erased
And we can't be forsaken, 'cause we stand in His grace, and
Adonai assures me
I'm now qualified to see His all-satisfying glory
Yeah (yeah)
So when you think your sin is too large
Just know Christ paid the infinite charge
To appease and extinguish the rod
He declares us righteous to bring us to God
And to sing with the squad
His righteousness, it can't be diminished or marred
Now I'm free to confess my triflin' sin
'Cause "I am righteous in Him"
When you think that your blame is enormous
Just know He took the shame that is your sin
Now you're embraced as the Lord's friend
Solely based on the Savior's performance
See how His grace is so gorgeous
Yo, this is our blameless adornment
This is our reputation before men
And our hiding place and our fortress
His justification remains the same, yo
As the day you were saved, so
Praise His name while recitin' this hymn
"I am righteous in Him"
With grace, Christ the Savior's rich
We're free to live a life of gratefulness
And contrite thankfulness
For the righteousness of Christ, the greatest gift
