I spent years pouring into everybody
And I didn't save enough for me
I showed up with open hands for the world
But I left my own heart on empty
There were nights I sat in silence
Not knowing why my soul felt tired
I forgot what it felt like to feel chosen
'Cause I kept giving until I was tired
But something changed the moment I said
"This can't be how my life stays"
And I heard You whisper, "Get up now
Let Me show you a different way"
Teach me how to love me, God
Show me how to see what You see
Your love heals everything it touches
So let that healing rest on me
I've been strong for everybody else
Now I need Your strength for me
Teach me how to love me, God
Teach my heart how to believe, oh
Teach my heart how to believe, oh
There are so many out here searching for love
Trying to give what they never received
They keep showing up for the whole world
While forgetting they're worthy of peace
Some wake up feeling unwanted
Some hide the hurt they carry deep
But You remind us Your love never fails
It's steady, it's patient, it's real, it's free, and
You pulled me close and told me
"Stop shrinking who you are
The love you pour out so freely
Is the love I want to fill your heart"
Oh, teach me how to love me, God
Show me how to see what You see
Your love heals everything it touches
So let that healing rest on me
I've been strong for everybody else
Now I need Your strength for me
Teach me how to love me, God
Teach my heart how to believe, oh
I'm ready to see myself clearly
I'm ready to breathe without fear
Take every lie that weighed me down
And fill it with truth that draws me near
I'm rising now, I'm healing now
I'm loved and I'll live like it
Oh, teach me how to love me, God
Show me how to see what You see
Your love heals everything it touches
So let that healing rest on me
I've been strong for everybody else
Now I need Your strength for me
Teach me how to love me, God
Teach my heart how to believe, oh
Your love found me, Your love lifted me
Now teach me how to love me
