Velouria

The song feels like an intense, dreamlike expression of fascination with someone called Velouria. The speaker imagines moving beyond ordinary limits and traveling toward her, then repeatedly declares affection. The mood is both excited and tender, though the strange, shifting scenes make the speaker’s feelings seem more like a vision than a straightforward love story.

Several images suggest escape and wonder. Being “through the roof” can mean breaking free or rising into an imagined world. “Wade in the shine” turns light into something like water, inviting the speaker and Velouria to enter a bright, timeless experience together. The questions about lemur skin and the sea are unusual and may simply add a surreal, sensory quality rather than carry a clear meaning.

The lyrics leave Velouria’s identity open: she may be a real beloved person, an idealized figure, or part of the speaker’s imagination. California and “Shasta sheen” give the vision a specific place, but do not explain who she is or why she matters. The repeated spelling of her name at the end can sound like devotion, fascination, or an attempt to hold onto the image.
