Oh-oh, yeah-yeah, yeah
I was five years old, listening to the radio
I memorized every song you song
So the soul and blues, it's hard to fill your shoes
And live up to your name
You was always on the road, singing the sold out shows
Working hard to stay on top
Everybody call you JT, but to mama and me
You were just pops
I miss my daddy
I never thought you'd leave
Or the songs would ever end
Wish I could turn the page and see you back on stage
Singing cheaper to keep up again
And just because you wasn't always there
I want you to know I understood
It wasn't easy for you, but I know you can
You did the best that you could
Now, I'm on my own, trying to sing your songs
Listen to the scream of the crowd
I hope you like what you see, when you look down on me
I'm just trying to make you proud
I miss my daddy
I wish that you were here
Doing the thing that we used to do
No, it just ain't the same
Can't nobody sing little bluebird like you
I miss my daddy (I miss my daddy)
I never thought you would leave
Or the songs would never end
I wish I could turn the page
And see you back on stage
Singing that tune I love again
I miss my daddy (I miss my daddy)
I wish that you were here doing the things that we used to do
'Cause it just ain't the same
Ain't nobody's time
Disco lady like you
I miss my - (my daddy)
Whoa, whoa
I miss you Pa
I'm just trying to sing a song, just like you (I miss my daddy)
Oh, I miss my daddy, whoa
I wish you were here
Oh, oh (I miss my daddy)
You can tell time wrong
But your son is holding it down
Tell the old lady that the blue is alright (I miss my daddy)
I'm crying for you, both
I'm trying for you
I know you're watching
Oh, I miss my daddy
Whoa
I miss my Pa
I miss you dad
