Good levels
Concepts that stay concrete
Letter to my first born
I know my obligations start
When your journey begins
I just need to know you're safe
Living clean
Steady flying straight with no mistakes
I want you to know you're great
No one else can take that power from you
No one takes your place
I know that sometimes it's difficult
Plus I understand there's times that I'm arriving late
But I just hope you take these letters on board
And let the essence of this message take its place
Struggling to find the words
I know there's been moments when we've struggled to communicate
But I trust that underneath it all
Deep within the core
There is code that we refuse to break
This is not an autobiography
Instructing you on all them moves that you should make
This is me confirming that I love and trust in you
As a father and man, I relate
I believe in your potential
I know if you stick to climbing you will soon be flying
And when I look into your eyes I see there's bottled lightning
So don't let them take your thunder son, just keep igniting
Hold on to them traits that we all admire
You are a flame that's growing fast into a ball of fire
And you can succeed at anything that you will put your mind to
Just keep your focus on them pure desires
See, I just want to tell you that I'm proud son
I know I don't say it all the time
I know I don't put it into words much
So instead I've tried to link this into rhyme
Just to see you growing up and thriving
Just to see you reaching to your prime
I know I don't put this into words much
But, believe
You are coming from a long line
Of literary thinkers on your dad's side
But we don't know too much about your mum's genes
But one thing we can be certain
Is them Nigerian roots
Will play a key role in your achievements
I just need to know your cool
If you're walking on your own
Or leaving with your friends from school
It's hard to think of you in this world alone
That's why we stress you for the GPS that's on your phone
There's a look me and your mum exchange
When you don't reply to us rapid or when you're running late
Something that we rarely put in words
But we share on mutual levels
Something we understate
There's a fear me and your mum exchange
Stemming from the abyss of this country's dark hearted structure
I don't want nobody full of hate
Taking what's so precious and so vital
To our family picture
And so we form an invisible force field
And try to remain a source of knowledge
And balanced opinion
For whenever you need it
Honest advice, without prejudice or repercussion
Always
