Some people say
why do you play the blues?
Some even ask me
if I paid my dues.
Tell them it's somethin'
to get me through
everytime that I think of you.
That's why,
that's why I play the blues.
Some people wanna know
if the blues is here to stay.
Tell them I don't know,
but that it's with me every day.
Stops me from fallin'
down to the ground
everytime you're not around.
That's why,
that's why I play the blues.
I don't know if it's wrong or right,
but the blues is with me day and night.
Just don't ask me about the way I feel,
all I know is that the blues is real.
Tell them it's somethin'
to get me through
everytime that I'm thinking of you.
That's why,
that's why I play the blues.
That's why I play the blues.
That's why I play the blues.
That's why,
that's why I play the blues.
