Lyrics meaning
The speaker is struggling after someone has left. He misses the person, tries to forget them, and still loves them; these feelings keep returning in a cycle. At first, the loss brings loneliness and confusion. Later, he recognizes that he has lost a sense of identity, but this understanding does not make saying goodbye easy.
The image of “loneliness in my pockets” makes loneliness seem like something he carries with him everywhere. A “gray photo” suggests that even a memory of the relationship now feels sad or faded. He also says he “bet his life” and “let himself lose,” a figurative way of describing how completely he invested himself in the relationship, even though it ended painfully.
The repeated movement between missing, forgetting, and loving suggests that these are not neat stages: trying to forget does not erase affection or memory. “I have no remedy” may mean he feels powerless to change how he feels, rather than that love is literally an illness. His words are intensely devoted, but they also hint at the cost of giving everything to another person. We cannot know whether he truly wants the relationship back or is simply expressing the difficulty of moving on.
