Slow, Love, Slow

The speaker invites someone to share a private, emotional world, then questions whether their affection is for the person or for an imagined version of them. Being “intoxicated by a major chord” compares music’s uplifting sound to being drunk with feeling. “Ice-cream castles” and whispered rhymes evoke sweet, playful romance, but castles made of ice cream are fragile and temporary. “Let-down-your guards” means becoming less defensive and allowing someone closer.

The line “Only the weak are not lonely” is deliberately puzzling: it may challenge the idea that loneliness is a sign of weakness, or suggest that admitting loneliness takes strength.
