Rockerrente

The lyrics present rock music as a lifelong commitment. The speaker says that performing is central to his life and vows to keep going until retirement. The mood is energetic and determined: even as the musicians grow old and face strong competition, they refuse to give up their dream.

“Old as a tree” is a vivid way to imagine growing very old. The phrase “not let ourselves be beaten down” means they will not be discouraged by difficulties. “Until the pieces fly” is an exaggerated image of playing with great force and excitement. The repeated phrase “Rockerrente” combines rock music with retirement, suggesting a future in which the band keeps playing for as long as possible.

The repeated claim that “it’s no duck” is a German expression meaning “it’s no lie” or “it’s true”; it reinforces the promise with a playful touch. The lyrics sound confident and celebratory, but the promise may be more than a literal plan to perform until retirement: it also expresses loyalty to a youthful dream and an identity built around music. The song does not say what retirement will mean for the band, leaving that future open.
