In Glasgow, back in '98, old children needed fed
And something hearted Irish men, who lived around Parkhead
Decided in their charity to silence hunger's cry
So they started Celtic Football Club and raised the flag on high
And they raised the flag on high
And they raised the flag on high
They started Celtic Football Club and raised the flag on high
Them bigots, who did hate their race and most of all, their creed
Used their power to hinder them, in spite of children's need
But Celtic's spirit, then as now
Despite each press man's lie
They rose above all obstacles and kept their flag on high
They kept their flag on high
And they kept their flag on high
They rose above all obstacles, and kept their flag on high
They carried on from strength to strength
From fame to greater fame
Now all who've heard of football know the Glasgow Celtic name
But still the same old bigotry will let no chance go by
To blacken this great football name and the flag that flies on high
And the flag that flies on high
And the flag that flies on high
To blacken this great football name and the flag that flies on high
When, in 1953, the ruling S.F.A
They said that Celtic Football Club must take their flag away
Bob Kelly and his Celtic men said they would rather die
Than to disgrace their forefathers and the flag that flies on high
And the flag that flies on high
And the flag that flies on high
Than to disgrace their forefathers and the flag that flies on high
And still the Irish Tricolour, it waves o'er paradise
Where, proudly, it's admired and loved by Irish exiles' eyes
God thank that light Bob Kelly
All the tax we will defy
From the enemies of Celtic and the flag that flies on high
And the flag that flies on high
And the flag that flies on high
From the enemies of Celtic and the flag that flies on high
In Glasgow, back in '98, old children needed fed
And something hearted Irish men, who lived around Parkhead
Decided in their charity to silence hunger's cry
So they started Celtic Football Club and raised the flag on high
And they raised the flag on high
And they raised the flag on high
They started Celtic Football Club and raised the flag on high
And they raised the flag on high
And they raised the flag on high
They started Celtic Football Club and raised the flag on high
