The lyrics follow a truck driver travelling through the night, with the radio for company. The repeated counting rhythm and refrain make the journey feel energetic and steady. As darkness gives way to morning, the mood shifts toward hope: the driver keeps moving, even though the destination and the meaning of the journey are not completely clear.

The motorway is both a real road and a possible image of life moving forward. The “double white line” suggests the markings that guide traffic, while also hinting at rules or boundaries the driver must follow. Calling a motorcycle a “two-wheel stallion” turns it into a powerful, spirited animal; the contrast with the heavy lorry gives the passing rider a lively, almost playful presence. “Truckin’ on” means continuing to travel, and can also suggest carrying on through difficulty.

The lyrics mix confidence with uncertainty. The driver insists that it is never too late and keeps heading home, but also wonders whether a road may lead nowhere and admits that no one can always judge right from wrong. “Home” may mean a literal place, or simply a sense of belonging or arrival. The song does not resolve that uncertainty; its repeated sunrise suggests renewal, while the ongoing drive leaves the journey open.
