Got some mighty sad news, and I ain't got nothing to say
I heard some mighty sad news, and I don't have nothing to say
My baby left me
Started me to drinking on Christmas day
Lord, I tried to fetch religion, but the devil won't let me pray
Lord, I tried to fetch religion, but the devil will not let me pray
That's why I got to stay drunk, boys, all day, that Christmas day
On, on Christmas day
You know that's one day I hate to have the blues, okay
Oh, but she walked off and left me, she give 'em to me
So, I got to drink 'em off
I don't even have a Christmas tree in my house
Unless she come home
But if she do happen to come home
I will enjoy this Christmas
Yes, run here, baby, and let me tell you what I got to say
Please, please, run here, darlin', and let daddy tell you what he got to say
Unless you come back to me, I'll be drunk all day, Christmas day
Well, alright now
Jump, boy, jump, boy, jump!
