Lyrics meaning

The speaker feels lonely after losing an unfaithful lover and repeatedly asks his mother and sister to send him someone who can offer affection. The mood shifts from frustration and self-pity to comic desperation: he begs, imagines possible journeys, and insists that almost any woman would do. The repeated request makes his need sound urgent, but also exaggerated.

Several images make the request playful. A โ€œmule trainโ€ and an โ€œaeroplaneโ€ suggest he is willing to travel by any means if the woman cannot come to him. โ€œDown on my kneesโ€ is an idiom for begging earnestly, though here it also adds theatrical humor. His long list of possible nationalities, and his claim that she need not be tall, blonde, or a โ€œsocial hostess,โ€ present him as lowering his standardsโ€”while โ€œin my fantasyโ€ hints that he is imagining rather than arranging a real meeting.

The song can be heard as a joke about loneliness and the wish for an easy solution: the speaker treats love almost like something that can be delivered on request. Yet the humor does not erase the sadness in his need for โ€œconsolingโ€ and companionship. It is unclear how seriously to take the promise of โ€œpersonal securityโ€; it may be comic reassurance rather than a realistic offer.
