Follow That Dream

The lyrics describe someone who feels compelled to leave and pursue a dream, hoping it will lead to love. The repeated calls to “keep moving” make the speaker sound determined, while the dream gives direction to that movement. The mood is hopeful and energetic, though the speaker does not know where the journey will end.

Restlessness and weariness are treated as signs that it may be time to move on: a restless heart wants change, while singing offers comfort when the heart is tired. The dream is also personified as something that “calls” the speaker, suggesting a strong inner desire that is difficult to ignore. Finding “someone whose heart is free” means seeking a willing, open-hearted partner, not simply arriving at a place.

The lyrics connect the dream of love with the search for a person to share the journey, but they leave the outcome uncertain. The speaker hopes that finding a partner will reveal what the dream is really about; perhaps love is the goal, or perhaps the journey itself will clarify the goal. The repeated insistence on moving forward can sound confident, but it may also hint that the speaker is still searching and does not yet know exactly what will satisfy them.
