Lights start dimming
Balloons on the ceiling
And you're still nowhere in sight
The DJ knows how
I'm feeling somehow
Could cut the tension in the room
With a knife
I got all dressed up hoping you'd notice
Rehearsed this a thousand times in my head
Worked myself up thinking that you'd be here
Hoping you're just fashionably late
You'll walk in as the last song starts to play
And hold me in your arms as we start to sway
I've been dreaming all about this every New Year's Day
I watch them dancing
They walk holding hands and
I start to worry it's passing us by
No resolutions I just wanted you but
The clock is ticking it's way onto midnight
I grab my jacket now I'm heading out
Everybody's starting to count it down
Thought I caught a glimpse of you through the crowd
Hoping you're just fashionably late
You'll walk in as the last song starts to play
And hold me in your arms as we start to sway
I've been dreaming all about this every New Year's
Confetti starts to rain down to the floor
My eyes can't pull away from the front door
Oh it can't be only me who feels this way
I've been dreaming all about this every New Year's Day
Smokes getting heavy I'm hypnotised
Head full of red wine we're wasting time
Thought that you'd made it
My heart is breaking
You were meant to be mine
And hold me in your arms as we start to sway
I've been dreaming all about this every New Year's
Confetti covers everything in sight
Lovers disappear into the night
Oh it can't be only me who feels this way
I've been dreaming all about this every god damn day
I've been dreaming dreaming every New Year's Day
