I've dreamt about this morning
A special Easter day
Wished you would soon be coming
I could hardly wait
Bedtime's been so quiet
Mom's tucked me in alone
But now that you are back
Here's your 'Welcome home'
First things first
I'll give my dad a hug
I know that you've been gone for days
That was long enough
When I saw you at the door
My heart filled up with love
I am so excited to be united
First things first
I'll give my dad a hug
ย
When the dawning sunshine
Woke me in my room
Something on the inside
Said you'd be here soon
When I saw you looking
Around the class for me
I saw the dad
I hope I'll one day be
First things first
I'll give my dad a hug
I know that you've been gone for days
That was long enough
When I saw you at the door
My heart filled up with love
I am so excited to be reunited
First things first
I'll give my dad a hug

Once upon a Calvary
A father and his son
Kept a Christmas promise made for me and you
Three long days of darkness ended
When He rose again
Then the son of God knew what to do
First things first
He gave His dad a hug
He needed to be gone for days
That was long enough
When the father called to Him
His heart filled up with love
The Lord of all creation
Showed us His true salvation
On Easter morn
First things first
He gave His dad a hug
First things first
Give your dad a hug

Dad, do you think Jesus misses his father as much as I miss you?
Probably even more, Junior
Well kids, your parents are coming to pick you up now
What do you say, kids?
I'm sure your parents would love to hear that song we sang earlier
Oh, yeah
