He had some good old days
I heard the stories 'bout the hell he raised
When he was younger once the field got hayed
He'd turn on that tv
Sit down in that chair and I would climb up on his knee
And I learned Hank songs and hee haw the Cowboys and Braves
The best times in my life are times he would trade
That tractor seat vinyl
For recliner corduroy
God bless that hard working man
In a La-Z-Boy
They said his heart went bad
Doctor told him best don't move too fast
Knowing him I know it drove him mad
Just sitting there all day
But showing up to visit put a smile on his face
We talked fishin' and girlfriends and World War II boats
How he never thought it'd be this hard to go
From tractor seat vinyl
To recliner corduroy
God bless that hardworking man
In a La-Z-Boy
In a La-Z-Boy
Yeah my old man called
Told me his old man ain't got too long
So I drove right home
We talked Hank songs and hee haw and tried not to cry
Read Psalm 23 before he closed his eyes
When it comes my time
And if I have a choice
I'd go out like that hard working man
In a La-Z-Boy
