In a small town where the young boy stands
Folks work hard with calloused hands
But the signs in the heart of town
Say "Forbidden to dream, just keep your head down."
Forbidden to dream, that's what they say
Keep on working your hair away
But deep inside, a fire burns bright
Can't stop dreaming how good life would be
Standin' tall
Feelin' great
Being awesome
But it's forbidden to dream
Mama told me, "better study, and get a job"
Life's a struggle, it's a long goodbye."
Follow your Daddy's path, work for a factory
"Keep your dreams in check, don't chase the rain."
Never dream, that's what they say
Keep on working your hair away
But deep inside, a fire burns bright
Can't stop dreaming how good life would be
Standin' tall
Feelin' great
Being awesome
But it's forbidden to dream
People just get graduated, it's allways the same
Down at the corner bar, or KFC
Slaves to the job like everyone
I've seen guys get lost in time
Die without dreams, drinking 60 beers per week
The Elite system's chains might tie them down
But I won't let it steal my crown
Forbidden to dream, that's what they say
Keep on working your hair away
But deep inside, a fire burns bright
Can't stop dreaming how good life would be
Standin' tall
Feelin' great
Being awesome
But it's forbidden to dream
