Bewildered

The singer feels confused and deeply hurt after a separation. He still needs love, but cannot understand why the relationship ended. His feelings move between longing and despair: he hopes the other person might understand his heart, yet he cannot make sense of being loved and then left.

Several images express this confusion. Being “lost in a dream” suggests that reality feels unreal or hard to grasp. “Without a spark” and “in the dark” make love seem like a light that has gone out, leaving him unable to find his way. A “guiding hand” is an image of support and direction; he wants the loved one to help him through his pain.

The repeated question about how someone could love him and leave him shows that he is searching for an explanation, not necessarily accusing the other person of lying. The lyrics do not tell us why they parted or whether the love has truly ended. “Bewildered” may describe both his immediate heartbreak and the larger uncertainty of not knowing what the other person feels.
