Lyrics

To the backside of the desert we read a man one day Led his sheep to graze beyond the sandy dunes There he saw a sight so wondrous to behold as he drew near A bush on fire but it was not consumed As he drew nearer to the wonder from the bush God spoke to him 'Neath your feet is holy ground, take off your shoes I have called you from this mountain to go down in Egypt land Lead my people out of there with you Go down Moses, down to Egypt land Tell my children that I have seen their woes I have heard their cry in the nighttime Tell Pharaoh, let my people go! Moses cried, "O Lord, if I should go, what would I do and say?" God said, "Go, I'll make you the better man Say by my holy name and mighty arm I'll bring them out of chains For Almighty God I am that I am" Go down Moses, down to Egypt land Tell my children that I have seen their woes I have heard their cry in the nighttime Tell Pharaoh, let my people go! "Now thrust your hand within your bosom, pull it out, take a look Cast your rod upon the ground and watch it crawl I will show them all of my power and my wonders to perform Pharaoh then will let my people go" Go down Moses, down to Egypt land Tell my children that I have seen their woes I have heard their cry in the nighttime Tell Pharaoh, let my people go! Go down Moses, down to Egypt land Tell my children that I have seen their woes I have heard their cry in the nighttime Tell Pharaoh, let my people go! Tell Pharaoh, let my people go! Tell Pharaoh, let my people go!
