Omnia Sol Temperat

The lyrics connect the arrival of spring with the desire for love. Sunlight warms everything, April opens a “new world,” and the speaker asks to be loved faithfully. The mood is joyful and hopeful, with nature’s renewal and romantic feeling presented as part of the same fresh beginning.

Several images support this connection. The sun “opens” April’s face, suggesting that warmth and light reveal the season’s beauty. Spring also brings “novelty” and gives people reason to rejoice. The repeated request to love faithfully “with the whole heart” and “the whole mind” means the speaker wants complete, sincere devotion, not merely a passing attraction.

The poem’s celebration is not entirely simple. Its joyful spring imagery makes love feel natural and uplifting, but the repeated plea for faithfulness may also suggest a need for reassurance or a promise that could be broken. The lyrics do not explain the relationship or whether the request is answered, so the speaker can sound both delighted by love and somewhat vulnerable.
