Looking Around

The speaker begins by describing a life of noticing what is nearby and making the best of what is missing. They are willing to walk farther, imagine laughter, and keep moving. The mood shifts when the speaker sees and hears someone who seems to bring a stronger sense of connection. Still, reaching that person takes time, so the song balances energy and optimism with a hint of longing.

Several images suggest openness to experience. “Touch and feel” and “listen” make discovery physical and immediate, while “looking around everywhere” suggests curiosity about the world. Making up smiles and laughs implies that the speaker can create some happiness for themselves, rather than waiting for circumstances to provide it. “Leaving trails of dust and lust” evokes fast movement and desire, though the phrase is deliberately vivid and may suggest restless passion more than a specific event.

The repeated wish to “get around to you” hints that the speaker has many plans or distractions and has not yet made time for this person. “Keep on moving, never dying” can sound like a confident promise to persist, but it may also reflect a restless refusal to pause. The lyrics do not explain exactly who the other person is or what the relationship means. They can be read as a love song, but also as a broader reflection on seeking connection while moving through life.
