Changing my body for people around me
Maybe they'll say "I'm great"
It's a toxic perspective that might be subjective
At least they'll know my name
Mum said "it's a lost cause to go to the stars"
"'Cause the ground is fine"
"Sure it looks brighter but just be realistic"
"You're already twenty nine"
So I'll move to the city
Lie about my age
Make some friends
That don't even know name
And I'm feeling lonely again
'Cause they come and go like a trend
So I'll lower my hairline
I'll lose some weight
Get a doctor to fix
Everything out of place
And I'll lose myself in the end
But I'll take what I can get
Last day of school, I said "I'd do it all"
Just wanted to be seen in the room
Now I'm back in my hometown, the silence is so loud
So what was I trying to prove?
Hiding my emotions from familiar faces, it hurts when they say
"Congratulations you made it, you've changed for the better"
'Cause it doesn't feel that way
So I'll move to the city
Lie about my age
Make some friends
That don't even know my name
And I'm feeling lonely again
'Cause they come and go like a trend
So I'll lower my hairline
I'll lose some weight
Get a doctor to fix
Everything out of place
And I'll lose myself in the end
But I'll take what I can get
Oh I'll take what I can get
I'll take what I can get
