All the Time

The speaker describes a life of repeated indulgence, poor choices, and promises that do not last. At first, the tone sounds celebratory: he raises a drink and says the moment is right. But the mood grows more uneasy as he admits he is wasting time and heading toward a crash. By the end, the fun seems mixed with regret and exhaustion.

Several expressions make that contrast vivid. “Down the hatch” means drinking, while “salud” is a toast—both help make the behavior sound like a party. “Smash straight into a wall” suggests an approaching failure or consequence, not necessarily a literal crash. “Read between the lines” means notice what is implied rather than plainly stated; here, the speaker seems to realize too late that a promise or situation had warning signs.

The repeated idea of watching the clock while “having the time of my life” is deliberately contradictory. It may suggest that the speaker is trying to enjoy himself while also feeling time slip away. “Time flies when you’re having fun” is a familiar saying, but the lyric sets it against working hard and feeling that time is “up.” The song can be heard as mocking reckless fun, expressing regret about wasted time, or doing both at once; its upbeat toast-like language does not settle the question.
