And you had bobby socks that you rolled down

And of course you had your hair about this big on top and, oh
I forgot, you had... you wore a... a metal belt, one of those
Spun aluminum belts that had a little... little thing on the

That said you were a virgin, but nobody believed you, remember?
And you wore a really cool lipstick that
Went way up, almost to your nostrils
And lots of... and lots of eye makeup and... and the guys were
Dressed cool too, I mean, uh, but Jeff's an authority on the guys
There's another hint for the girls though, a handy hint
On Saturday afternoons at the car wash, you know, when the
Girls had their Phi Delta, whatever, car wash, they had
These cool little sweatshirts that had their name right here
I always asked 'em what the other one was named when I was a kid

Uh, this is... the guys dressed really cool too
They wore, uh... uh, let's start from the top
They had these giant pompadour hairdos, big, giant, almost as big as

It got so, uh, just before the fad went out that guys were
Lacquering 'em candy apple and painting swastikas on 'em
So, uh, let's say your name's Loopy and you're a dropout and you got
Your, uh, Sergi shirt that you won in the Lloyd Daxon dance contest
You know, it's got a great big wide collar on it
And sleeves, kinda three-quarter length sleeves
That had this button right here, buttons it together
You wear this Penney's Towncraft t-shirt that's
Really high and you're always pulling it up and
When it wears out you wear it backwards, you know
And you got your... underneath you got your
Bowling t-shirt, you know, team on the back
And, uh, you got these khakis that you wear about
Up here or else you wear old Levis about here
It's one or the other, you know
They're just two little subcultures there
So, uh, let's say you're Loopy, so
You wear your khakis up here, you know
And, uh, you got your, uh, some kinda Thom McAn fad
Shoes, I don't know, seatbelt shoes, maybe, you know
With a bucket seat in the heel and the Roma lining
Big M's, big M's, right, big M's
Maybe Beatle... no, not Beatle boots, yeah
Bone rubs, right, with the lightning on the side
Those were really sharp
So then you had to... or, yeah, maybe... maybe black tennis shoes
Black tennis shoes were for surfers, you know, surfers didn't
Exist in 1956, if they did they just looked like greasers anyways
They just, on the weekend they'd sneak down to the
Beach at six in the morning and then they'd come back
To cruise on Saturday night and go to the canteen
So here you are, you're Loopy and you've been cruising school
All day, you know, especially around fifth period 'cause that's
When your girlfriend Dolores has gym and you dig seeing her in
Those blue bloomers, you know, it really turns you on, you know
And so you're driving there and you got your giant truck steering
Wheel in your car, you're driving like this, you know, and
You got your arm hanging out with your cigarette right here
Or a reefer maybe, you know, if you're really a bad guy, you know
If you didn't take heed of those health movies they showed you

So you ask her to the after-the-game dance, you say "

Loopy's got bad taste, you know
