You ever feel like
You're just too much and never enough โ at the same time?
This ain't poetry
This is therapy
I was tall for my age, too thin for the frame
A shadow in daylight, they laughed at my name
I stood like a giant, but broke like a twig
No armor to wear, just a target that's big
They cracked my bike brakes, cracked my skin
Cracked my silence, let the darkness in
I hit back once, got punished twice
I was the fire
They were the ice
Held it in at home, lips zipped tight
Mamma saw the flicker, not the full fight
Dad tried his best, but I lied with a grin
"Yeah, I'm fine," while I bled from within
Tried to end it, but fate said "not yet"
Now I carry that shame like unpaid debt
Scars I don't show, nights I don't sleep
Truths I still bury six memories deep
Never good enough, never strong enough
Never loud enough, never wrong enough
I'm just tryna live, just tryna love
But every step I take screams: not enough
Ice under my feet, but my heart found flame
Hockey gave me peace, gave me something to claim
But outside the rink, the storm came fast
First love left me like I was part of her past
Then came mistakes
Yeah, I ran too wild
Metal to pedal like a reckless child
Lost my license, lost my pride
Found a cell and time to hide
Earned my degree, but their eyes stayed cold
"Not the right path," just another mold
Lovers came, then turned away
Like I was winter and they needed May
Cheated on, ghosted, replaced in a breath
Each goodbye felt a little like death
Still I loved, still I tried
Still I drowned with my hands open wide
Never good enough, never strong enough
Never soft enough, never long enough
I give and I give, but it's never love
Every word I hear says: not enough
Fifteen years with a heart on a string
Now it's unraveling โ every little thing
Accused, confused, "You're not here for the kids"
But they're my sun, my soul, every reason I live
I hear the claims: "You don't care, you don't fight"
But they never see the demons I battle each night
I clean my own wounds
I stitch my own skin
I lose, I crawl, but I never give in
So what am I now?
A ghost or a man?
A broken machine doing all that he can?
I don't know the answer, but I still stand tall
Even when hope is a whisper in the hall
And maybe one day my kids will see
That I kept on breathing so they could be free
That even if the world said "You're not enough"
I was always, always... more than love
You ask what I am?
I'm not perfect
I'm not fixed
But I'm still here
And sometimes
just surviving
is enough
