What I love most about rivers is
You can't step in the same river twice
The water's always changing, always flowing
But people, I guess, can't live like that
We all must pay a price
To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing
What's around the riverbend
Waiting just around the riverbend
I look once more
Just around the riverbend
Beyond the shore
Where the gulls fly free
Don't know what for
What I dream the day might send
Just around the riverbend
For me
Coming for me
I feel it there beyond those trees
Or right behind these waterfalls
Can I ignore that sound of distant drumming
For a handsome, sturdy husband
Who builds handsome, sturdy walls
And never dreams that something might be coming?
Just around the riverbend
Waiting just around the riverbend
I look once more
Just around the riverbend
Beyond the shore
Somewhere past the sea
Don't know what for
Why do all my dreams extend
Just around the riverbend?
Just around the riverbend
(Spoken)
And then, I started walking back to the theatre and I thought of my
First day of rehearsal of my Broadway debut. Picture it with me
Unless you've made yours, just come on my journey. And even if you
Haven't, come on my journey. It's awesome. Okay. You get off the
Subway at 42nd Street. You walk down to New 42 Studios. Didn't know
There was an old 42, but it's fine. You go with it. It's your first
Show. I got in the elevator with such anticipation. I'm with
All these Broadway people that--they don't know me, but I know
Them. And I remember the elevator's parted. Sherie, I love
You so much. Sherie's here. And this vision of Sherie Rene
Scott. Like, the vision of this woman. And I was like, "Oh my
God. There she is." And then there was Norm Lewis. And then
There was Shawn Palmer, this, like, dancer extraordinaire. And
I was like, "I know I get to dance with him. That's my prince."
