It all started
When I was in high school

On the way to school, In the End would play
Hoping to catch the whole song on the radio
In that 15 minute ride to hear them on the stereo
My friends Randahl and Richie bought the CD
Friday nights hitting town to that nu-metal sound
Driving streets, dark city
On repeat, Hybrid Theory
Karaoke box on wheels of steel
Going cross island, end to end
Screaming teens, 60 miles per hour like a roller coaster
Now I understand, friend to friend
A memory never forgotten that brought us one step closer

Off to college, going our separate ways
I went to So-Cal USC in LA
It's the band's hometown
They're bound to be around
There's lots of folks here not into rap and stuff
They're more into rock from way back and stuff
But I found a few fans between the cracks
We bonded over the new Meteora tracks
Saving paycheck scrounging quarters and dimes to see them
We caught them live a few times
Hitting up free shows to catch their vibe on
Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Live
Saw them at the Cypress Hill smoke out tour
The only 4 kids out there that were sober
Soon our college days were over, adulthood in sight
They hit us one more time with Minutes to Midnight

10 years have past

As I cruise through life
I'm back in the islands again
Short visit, just happened to be
It's stupid humid, hard to sleep
So sweaty cause there's no AC

Working remote with the West Coast
My phone buzzed
