The speaker describes someone who seems carefree and successful, but whose way of life has changed them. After taking time to understand the situation, the speaker decides to leave. The repeated wish for the other person to have a “great life” sounds both like a farewell and a pointed criticism: the speaker sees a gap between the glamorous life on display and what this person truly wants.

The images of champagne parties, fame, money, villas, and sunglasses suggest wealth and status. They may also stand for a shallow performance of happiness rather than genuine fulfillment. “Putting off until tomorrow” means delaying things that could be done now, while the broken glasses may suggest a social world in which the person cannot find anything real or satisfying. The speaker’s remark that the other person is “slowly disappearing” implies losing a sense of self.

The song’s tone is not simply angry. There is concern and perhaps sadness in the claim that the person wants something different, alongside the speaker’s refusal to stay and watch them change. That claim may be perceptive, but it is still the speaker’s interpretation; the lyrics do not reveal the other person’s own thoughts.
