'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
A cat was purring, though not even a mouse was seen
The color of this dream was red and green
And we had been shopping a long time, like we used to do at Evergreen
Forever streams, rivers of life and overflow
As we celebrate the birth of Christ who wore an open toe
Open hearts, the gifts inside, you not supposed to know
About the earrings I got you, yeah, they as cold as snow
Ice, ice, beloved
I hope you like-, no, I hope you love it
And tell the boys they can sleep
You know I got them covered
In a blanket of thankfulness
I make a wish for brothers and sisters
And to think we used to wonder why Christmas missed us
Now we think big, the prosperity of joy
Good music, good food, surrounded by loved ones is where we enjoy
The presence of Christmas, Christ must be present
Like a Baptist church whose gift is pleasant
Or a child's eyes and effervescence
Aunts stepping, cousins jukin', our hearts dance with the ancestors
As we step into love, from upstairs, the man blessed us, yes, us
Let's remain here through the sun and the rain, dear, always
You're the reason I came here
It's almost Christmas
Baby, tell me what you got for me
It's almost Christmas
All I'm wishing for is names and me
To me
Close to me
Love when it shows, pure like it's gold
Baby, it's time and sealed
Body and soul, deep as the snow
How does it make you feel? Close to me
Close to me
