I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Travelling through this world of woe
And there's no sickness, toil or danger
In this bright land to which I go
I'm going home
To see my mother
Im going there no more to roam
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home
ย
I know dark clouds will hover o'er me
I know my way is rough and steep
Yet golden fields lie still before me
Their souls redeemed, their vigils keep
I'm going home to see my father,
I'm going there no more to roam;
I'm only going over Jordan,
I'm only going over home.

I'll soon be free from every trial
This form shall lie beneath the sun
I'll lose the cross of self-denial
And enter in that home of God
I'm going there to meet my Savior
To sing His praise forevermore
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home
I'm going there to meet my saviour
To sing his praise forevermore
Im only going over Jordan
Im only going over home
