Here is, or here are, the last ten minutes of music that accompanied
The final reel of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. And it's got all the
Orchestral and now concert band trills and roulades that accompanied
The bicycle chase at the end of the film. The timpani will hit a
Note every time the bike hit a speed bump. It went along and hit
Another bump as we hit a speed bump. And as the children accelerate
Their bicycles and approach escape velocity, the bikes take off
And in Spielberg's imagination at least fly over the moon. And you
Will hear the E.T. flying theme as the bikes achieve this great feat
At the end of the piece there's some sentimental music which
Accompanied the dialogue between, that took place during the leave-
Taking between E.T. and his Earthling friends as they said goodbye
And then finally more fanfares and cymbals as the spaceship lifted
Off returning E.T. to his celestial home. And this is the music
Transcribed from the orchestral version to concert band version
Played now so brilliantly as I'm hearing everything
Done by this wonderful band. The last reel
From E.T. which I call "Adventures on Earth."
