Iron Man

The lyrics tell of a figure who returns from a strange journey changed into something made of steel. At first, people question whether he is alive or able to move, but they choose to ignore him. Rejected and alone, he turns toward revenge. The mood shifts from uncertainty and pity to fear as he acts against the people he once saved.

The “great magnetic field” and travel through time suggest a science-fiction event that has transformed him, though the lyrics do not explain it fully. His “heavy boots of lead” make him seem slow and powerful, while the image of people running from him shows how frightening he has become. “Turn their heads” implies deliberate refusal to look at or help someone in need.

One reading is that the song is a cautionary story: neglecting an isolated person can lead to harm, and those who reject him may face the consequences. Yet his revenge does not seem justified simply because he was mistreated; he kills people he once protected. The lyrics leave open whether he is still a person capable of thought and feeling, or whether his transformation has made him something more like a force of destruction.
