Lyrics meaning
The speaker repeatedly dreams of becoming a millionaire because he wants his bank account to stop being empty. He sounds frustrated by having little money, but the exaggerated, cheerful refrain makes his complaint comic rather than tragic. As the song develops, he considers risky or unlikely ways to get rich, then settles on becoming a pop star.
Several expressions make the humor vivid. “A big mouth” suggests that he boasts despite having little knowledge or ability. “Crack a bank” means rob one, and “end up in jail” shows he recognizes the danger and rejects the idea. “Swim in my money” is an exaggeration: he imagines having so much cash that he could be surrounded by it. The repeated words for money also make his desire seem almost like a playful obsession.
The speaker presents himself as lazy and unqualified, yet also honest and unwilling to trade his body for wealth. These contradictions make him a comic, unreliable self-portrait: he wants riches without much effort, but he does not want to commit a crime or compromise himself. His plan to become a pop star may be another fantasy, or a jokingly confident solution. The lyrics leave open whether he truly expects to succeed.
