I'm not looking for an occupation, I just want to go home
They're holding me a ticket at the
Greyhound station, I'm still paying on
I never learned to sell folks nothing
I wasn't raised to steal and rob
I'm looking for a backbone job
Well, I can pick and shovel, I can hang drywall
Swing a nine-pound hammer, pull a crosscut saw
A post hole digger or a barbed wire strand
I don't mind work, but I'm a backbone man
I'm not dumb, but I ain't been to
College, I never got the first degree
And nowadays everybody's making a living tapping on a TV screen
Now I'm not down on a man's white collar, I don't mean to be a snob
I'm just looking for a backbone job
Well, I can pick and shovel, I can hang drywall
Swing a nine-pound hammer, pull a crosscut saw
A post hole digger or a barbed wire strand
I don't mind work, but I'm a backbone man
But I'm not looking for an occupation, I just want to go home
They're holding me a ticket at the
Greyhound station, I'm still paying on
I never learned to sell folks nothing
I wasn't raised to steal and rob
I'm looking for a backbone job
Just looking for a backbone job
Yeah, I'm looking for a backbone job
