Lyrics meaning

The lyrics present a sudden change from a miserable past to a supposedly perfect present. At first, the world is described as gray, unfair, and full of unhappy people; then “everything” becomes wonderful, and everyone seems cheerful. The repeated celebration makes the mood sound energetic, but its insistence may also feel exaggerated rather than fully sincere.

Several phrases help create that effect. “Hip, hip, hurra!” is a cheer used to celebrate, while “six correct numbers” suggests winning a lottery and becoming lucky overnight. “Friede, Freude, Eierkuchen” is a playful German expression linking peace and happiness with something as ordinary as pancakes; here it adds a cheerful, almost childish tone. The lyrics also say people are constantly swimming because of the heat, turning a small detail into proof that life is supposedly excellent.

The song can be heard as a joke about overly positive claims that everything has improved and everyone is happy. The repeated lines may sound like genuine celebration, but their sweeping promises—worldwide peace, universal friendship, and no sadness—are so complete that they invite doubt. The lyrics do not explain who caused the change or whether it is real. That uncertainty leaves room to hear the song as playful optimism, sharp irony, or a mixture of both.
