Lyrics
I Found it
In the creekbed where the nature covered wounds
Not an antler, not a horn
The color of old milk
Hollow in a way that echoed to be filled
It wasn't buried deep
Nature gave it to me
A story begging to be enscribed
A tune longing to thrive
I did not think of death as I carved a bone
Only how it may play, how long it's been alone
A song will grow where the marrow once stayed
Brought the sculpture to my lips
It trembled at my fingertips
Then nothing sang, and then I fixed it
Then I sculpted and I chipped it
Then I
It told me stories of a ruler
Who went by the name of Pearl
She would smile and they'd swoon
She would dance and they would swirl
Until one day, she didn't have her way
Ran from those who tied her down
She took a man's head, and then hers rolled
Though her story never told
Listen to the singing bone
