Back in two thousand and eight, I was just finding myself
I was just seven years old, putting my thoughts on the shelf
Didn't fit in, overly tried to be just like everyone else
I was just fighting a lot, that's when I went up the road
Father, he told me I'm chosen, I got to stick to the code
Don't give a fuck 'bout opinions, keeping my mind in control
Fresh as the ones on my feet like I was standing in snow
The old heads they be talking a lot, so I had to get up and grow
Fast forward into high school
Ducking, dodging all the new rules
Emperor, no new groove
Mystery, no blues clues
Everyday, high as a jet
I put the team on my back
I used to play running back
Had to go work on my math
Yeah, had to go work on that
I had to watch my back
Drifting into a loner, self aware I never lack
Had her once and let her go, but she kept coming back
I was on a few thoughts was doing jumping jacks
My mind was trying to tell me something
Couldn't tell me nothing, off of balance how I'm rushing
Going dnd if they not talking 'bout the subject
Say they only care about you when your name is buzzing
Swear this shit a jobe, but it's up for grabs
Sipping on that lean, super high in class
When I get a chance, I'm a really spazz
Way above the rim, I'm a break the glass
Back in two thousand eight, no couldn't catch a break
Years later into present day
Story time, got too much to say
Back in two thousand eight, no couldn't catch a break
Years later into present day
Story time, got too much to say
