Our story starts at 21
In the town where I grew up
I'll never forget that day
When the boys came around
Talking 'bout the gold they found
I remember I heard them say
Benny won't you come on out
The boys and I are heading south
We're hoping that we're gonna find some gold
Benny won't you come on down
The boys and I are singing loud
We're gonna tell these stories when we're old
The boys and I had some fun
Made our trouble and ran from some
Girls always came and went
We were young but we knew
Real riches find their way to you
That's why the boys all stayed
They still say
Benny won't you come on out
The boys and I are heading south
We're hoping that we're gonna find some gold
Benny won't you come on down
The boys and I are singing loud
We're gonna tell these stories when we're old
And it was never 'bout the gold
Just turning into friends of old
That's enough for me, that's all I need
All I need, now sing it!
(Benny won't you come on out)
(The boys and I are heading south)
(We're hoping that we're gonna find some gold)
Find some gold!
Benny won't you come on down
The boys and I are singing loud
We're gonna tell these stories when we're old

Life has gone and went it's way
Put some of us in different states
We all still talk the same
That's the way the story goes
Like all the rest now I suppose
They still call and say
