As I was drinking at the bar
A girl walked in the room
She pointed at my glass from far
And said, "This is your doom"
She told me she was sent from God
To save mankind from pain
But drinking men, she'd seen a lot
They all went down the drain
The devil made the rum for us (For us)
And there ain't no denying
You'll hear how mean the devil laughs
On the day he'll be watching us dying
ย
It felt so good to have her near
She was a sight to see
I said the rum, my lovely dear
Would do no harm to me
I raised my glass and took a sip
"You're pitiful," she said
"This sip might be a sip too much
The one you might regret"
The devil made the rum for us (For us)
And there ain't no denying
You'll hear how mean the devil laughs
On the day he'll be watching us dying
ย
She looked at me with loving eyes
As I took one last drink
But in her room I realized
It made my bowels, they shrink
The devil made the rum for us (For us)
And there ain't no denying
You'll hear how mean the devil laughs
On the day he'll be watching us dying
The devil made the rum for us (For us)
And there ain't no denying (No denying)
You'll hear how mean the devil laughs
On the day he'll be watching us dying
