Lust For Life

The lyrics present a couple caught up in an intense, joyful night together. Their excitement grows into a feeling that they can shape their own lives and ignore ordinary limits. The repeated claim that desire for life “keeps us alive” suggests that pleasure, love, and energy make life feel vivid, though the celebration also sounds deliberately reckless.

The Hollywood sign gives the lovers a dramatic, public landmark to climb and dance on, turning their private adventure into a bold fantasy of freedom. “Masters of our own fate” and “captains of our own souls” are metaphors for personal control: they believe they can choose their direction. “Green lights forever” extends this optimism, as green lights suggest permission to keep moving without being stopped.

That confidence may be sincere, playful, or partly an escape from reality. The lyrics move between lasting promises—“blue skies forever”—and a temporary night of dancing and desire. The repeated invitation to take off clothes adds a sensual, provocative note, but it does not explain the relationship in detail. The song can therefore be read both as a celebration of living intensely in the moment and as a fantasy that tries to make a fleeting feeling last forever.
