Mic check 1,2 1,2 you know how it goes
11212 that was the zip code
December 27th was the birth of Konata
The 'Met' fan born in the home of the Dodgers
D. Strawberry was the man as a toddler
From Brooklyn, Crooklyn look homes
I'm from that era, where that new era you're wearing
That would've got took homes
718 was the code of the hoodlums
7th floor 2739 Neptune
First hallway I would ever lay steps to
Where I resided back when the whole small fam united
We started out with 4 but then he divided
Daddy left the 3 of us
He started wilding
Left us stranded in Coney Island
Home of the cyclone
Jesus Shuttlesworth
I'm going psycho
A boy In a high rise looking for his idol
A 3 year old throwing tantrum for a night glow
Where you at?
Where they do that at?
Where do I go?
Moved down to bed study
361 Green Ave was the next stop
Never had a rest stop
Momma working 2 of em
Neither one of em a desk job
This is how it is when you grew up how I did
Thank God that I followed him
Now I done learned how to live
We'll be cruising
Tie your shoes
And walk into my foot steps
See with God
I came up out that fire
Like a Phoenix
Cause I'm looking fly now, feeling fine now
I don't mind, when I step out of my line you
You hit me like good God
You hit me like good God
You hit me like good God
You hit me like good God
New Kirk Avenue 1360
Vanderveer pj's
Before the hip the hip steez
PS 269 my elementary
6 years old she showing me her anatomy
I was Introduced young
Eyes wide boy I'm frozen like Medusa
But this would just become another thing in used to
Grew up quick
I got boyz in the grave that I grew up wit
And that was
Pre Flatbush Garden
When crack was thriving
And blacks was robbing
Other blacks that's starving
That was era of my side of America
Brooklyn in 90's ... it was terror
So while you celebrated
Christmas season
Homie we ain't a gift under the Christmas tree
Cuz we got robbed on Christmas Eve
And the strangest thing is that the grinch looked just like me
Success stories in my hood was unlikely
The realest thing I ever wrote, that just might be
It was survival of the fittest in my home town
Killing, blood spilling it was real up in that old town
We'll be cruising
Tie your shoes
And walk into my foot steps
See with God
I came up out that fire
Like a Phoenix
Cause I'm looking fly now, feeling fine now
I don't mind, when I step out of my line you
You hit me like good God
You hit me like good God
You hit me like good God
You hit me like good God
