Little Dreamer

The lyrics describe someone who was once dismissed or underestimated but kept aiming high. The speaker recalls the dreamer’s youth, courage, and difficult moments, then points out that others now seem to have forgotten those struggles. The mood is affectionate and admiring: the dreamer appears to have outlasted expectations, even if the song does not explain exactly what success looks like.

“Headed for the skies” suggests having big ambitions, as if reaching upward toward something beyond ordinary limits. Being voted “least likely to succeed” means others judged this person as unlikely to do well; the speaker counters that they already had “all you’d need,” implying inner resources such as determination or talent. “With a wink o’ your eye” may suggest a quick change in attitude or fortune, though the exact meaning is playful and unclear.

The song celebrates the dreamer, but it also hints at the cost of being doubted: the lyrics mention times they cried and “crazy days” that people no longer discuss. The repeated nickname can sound tender, but it may also preserve an image of the person as a youthful dreamer even after they have proved others wrong. The lyrics leave open whether the speaker is describing a specific achievement or simply praising the dreamer’s persistence.
