Think I was 14 in a basement
All our friends were playing truth or dare
I was waiting for him to say it was our turn
To have a couple minutes in there
Think it was spearmint gum that he pulled out
And I haven't bought that flavor since
My hands were shaking
We were close to the moment
I was always picturing
Anticipation
My world's gonna change
When I cross that line
I kissed a boy
And I hated it
Yeah I waited for the spark
It didn't start
So I stayed in it
Trying to argue with my heart
Thought I'd feel it if I did it more
Yeah I wish I would've known before
I kissed a boy
Ooh
So I kept looking for the right one
But I never felt the chemistry
I've got a long list of the nice ones
No one ever really did it for me
Hopeless romantic
Can't understand
So I kept on trying
So I kissed a boy
And I hated it
Yeah I waited for the spark
It didn't start
So I stayed in it
Trying to argue with my heart
Thought I'd feel it if I did it more
Yeah I wish I would've known before
I kissed a boy
Ooh
I kissed a boy
Ooh
Took a decade to see it
Forgot I was looking for a feeling
But at 21 I found someone
And nobody's ever felt like she did
I kissed a boy
And I hated it
Waited for the spark
It didn't start
So I stayed in it
Trying to argue with my heart
Thought I'd feel it if I did it more
Yeah I wish I would've known before
I kissed a boy
(I kissed a boy I kissed a boy)
I kissed a boy
(I wish I would've known)
I wish I would've known before
I kissed a boy
